The Minister of National Defence Mr, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met today, Wednesday 16 March 2022, with his Turkish counterpart Mr. Hulusi Akar, in the margins of the Extraordinary
Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in Brussels.

At their meeting, it was underlined that it is important to reduce tensions and establish a security climate in the East Mediterranean, based on International Law and the principle of good neighbourly relations.

In this framework, it was agreed that a meeting should shortly take place, to discuss on activities regarding confidence-building measures.
