The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos participates in the Munich Security Conference, which is held from 17 to 19 February 2023.
On Friday 17 February, the Minister of National Defence participated in a roundtable with counterparts, high-ranking officials of EU and NATO European countries, as well as defence industry leaders.
At their discussions, Mr. Panagiotopoulos underlined the importance of cooperative programmes by consortia of EU m-s Defence Industry companies, for capacity building that will be beneficial for all the participants, as well as the importance of giving incentives to that end, such as VAT exemptions and the exclusion of defence expenditure from budgetary discipline rules.
On the margins of the Conference, a meeting was held between the Minister of National Defence and his Israeli counterpart Mr. Yoav Gallant, during which matters pertaining to further enhancement of bilateral defence relations, and the developments in the broader region, were discussed.
The Minister also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of defence industries and discuss the perspectives of broadening cooperation with the Hellenic Defence Industry.
