The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, on the occasion of the signing of the second amendment Protocol of the U.S.-Greece Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement, on Thursday 14 October 2021, delivered the following statement:

“Today’s signing of the second protocol for the amendment of the Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement between Greece and USA is a landmark for the relations of the two countries. It confirms their commitment and decision to deepen and further widen the strategic defence partnership and cooperation, for the reinforcement of their Armed Forces and their contribution to security and stability in the wider region.

The new Agreement reflects the strong common will of both Governments to mutually defend and protect the security, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of their countries against any threat.”
