Defence Minister Nikos Dendias’ statement about the fire that reached a part of an ammunition depot camp, N. Anchialos

Regarding yesterday’s fire in Nea Anchialos, which reached a part of the ammunition depot camp of the 111st Combat Wing, in Karaba, Magnisia prefecture, I have received a comprehensive information document from the Hellenic Air Force General Staff.I asked the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, to conduct an urgent administrative inquiry under oath. The Hellenic Air Force General Staff has already issued the relevant decision of conducting the inquiry.What happened will be investigated thoroughly. For any responsibilities that may be found, charges will be pressed. I would like to assure you that there has not been any security risk for the 111st Combat Wing itself.In a general context: I asked for the control of all the Fire security Systems in all formations, all camps, as well as in all military premises in our country, regardless of their nature.I asked Fire Security plans be controlled, in every camp and every unit of all the three Services of the Armed Forces.I would like to assure you: The safety of the personnel, the installations and the materiel of the Armed Forces is a top and steadfast priority of the governments of the Hellenic Republic.It is a top priority for this government. It is a top priority for everyone. Thank you.
