The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias made the following statement, regarding the election of the Chief of the HNDGS General Michail Kostarakos as Chairman of the EU Military Committee.
“I would like to warmly congratulate the Chief of the HNDGS General Michail Kostarakos on his election as Chairman of the EU Military Committee (EUMC), which signifies recognition for the high level of our country’s Armed Forces.
The challenges General Kostarakos will face at his new post will be numerous, as far as the forming of a new strategy for the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy are concerned.
It is an issue of great importance, at the course towards a truly united Europe, for which I am sure that the Greek General will work productively and efficiently, since the very first day he will assume his duties.
I would like to congratulate once more the Chief of the HNDGS on his success, which is also a success for Greece and our Armed Forces”.
