Defence Minister Panos Kammenos attends the CEN-SAD Ministerial Meeting

The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos attended the Sahel Sahara (CEN – SAD) ministerial between 28 countries, which was held in Egypt, as an official guest.

The topics of the ministerial meeting were terrorism and the need of a regional and international cooperation to combat it.

In his address, the Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos underlined the need of cooperation between the 28 CEN – SAD countries and the European Union, to confront modern challenges, following also the decision by the heads of states, made in Malta last November. He presented the cooperation of Greece with Egypt as an example.

In the context of the meeting, the Minister of National Defence had brief private conversations with his Egyptian counterpart General Sedki Sobhi, with Cyprus’ Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides with Tunisia’s Defence Minister Farhat Horchani and with the Chief of Libya’s Armed Forces who was representing his country in the meeting.
