Defence Minister Panos Kammenos attends the EU Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Luxembourg

The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos participated in the meeting of EU Defence Ministers held in Luxembourg.

In his address, he underlined the need to define the defence area of the European Union, stressing that the invisible borderline in Southern Europe stretches from Spain to Cyprus.

He also stressed the need to create an intelligence service of the European Union at defence level, like the one of NATO, as well as a data base for the exchange of information.

The Minister of National Defence mentioned that it is necessary that unused funds for the defence of the borders are transferred to the Ministries of Defence of EU countries for the development of regional defence cooperation.

Finally, he stressed the need to make political decisions which will create a sense of security in the societies of the member-states.
