The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos accompanied by the Chief of HNDGS General Michail Kostarakos, the Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and the Chief of HAFGS Lieutenant General Christos Vaitsis paid a scheduled visit to Ikaria for the inauguration of the first mission assumed by “DIDERGON” which includes widening and improvement of the road connecting the villages Karkinagri and Magganitis in the south of the island.
Later on, together with the Minister of Health Panagiotis Kouroumplis visited the hospital of Ikaria where they announced that an artificial kidney unit will be created and the hospital will be staffed with specialized doctors. They also considered the possibility of the procurement of a CT scanner via the NSRF.
The Minister of National Defence returns to Athens hurriedly due to the developments caused by the fires.
