The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos participated in the Informal meeting of EU Defence Ministers which was held in Malta.
During the meeting, matters regarding the Operation “Sophia” of the European Union in Central Mediterranean, as well as matters of migration and terrorism in the wider area of the Mediterranean were discussed.
The Minister of National Defence proposed the augmentation of the capabilities, to deal with these problems.
The European Defence which is currently being shaped as well as matters of military cooperation among member-states of the European Union were also discussed.
The Minister of National Defence raised also the issue of Greece’s territories being disputed by its Eastern neighbouring country and the issue of the violation of Greece’s national air space and territorial waters which define the borders of the European Union as well.
