The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos participated in the Meeting of EU Ministers of Defence held in Brussels.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of the European Defence, of the reinforcement of the European Defence Industry, as well as the relations of European Union and NATO, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.
The Minister of National Defence stressed the need to accelerate the further development of the European Defence so as to face the increasing activity of the terrorist action and the other threats against the European Union.
He underlined the importance of respecting European borders and dealing with military and verbal threats of an allied country, addressed against member-states of the Union stressing that these threats turn against all the member-states and not only one of them.
The Minister of National Defence also emphasized the readiness of our country which complies with the terms of the Treaty, for its participation in the permanent Structured Defence Cooperation.
He also participated in a common working lunch of EU Defence and Interior Ministers in which the issue of terrorism was discussed.
