The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos during his official visit to Cyprus met with the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II.

The Minister of National Defence stated the following:

“The first day after the new government received the vote of confidence, we came with the Minister of Defence of Cyprus here, to the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus, to kiss His Beatitude’s hand and ask for his blessing and his support in this difficult effort, to promote, to continue, to consolidate and to reinforce the cooperation between the Motherland and Cyprus in the field of defence.

His Beatitude has been always speaking about the single defence doctrine since a long time ago, although many forgot about it. So, I came to assure His Beatitude and the Greek Cypriots that the single defence doctrine is not just a term, it is a reality for which we will be working hard every day that passes to make it more real. This should be made absolutely clear to the Greek Cypriots and also abroad, to those who undermine the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cyprus.”
