The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos accompanied by the Chief of HNDGS Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and the Chief of HAGS Lt General Alkiviadis Stefanis, in the context of his visit to Samothrace for Field Training Exercise “Saos” met with the Mayor of Samothrace Athanasios Vitsas.
They discussed about issues concerning the health sector, so that visits by military doctors’ echelons will begin shortly from many different specialties, in regular time periods, in order to medically examine the island’s inhabitants.
They also discussed the issue of the Municipality’s cooperation with the Armed Forces on the resolution of problems pertaining to the Municipality’s infrastructures, as well as the understaffing of Samothrace’s Firefighting Echelon.
Another issue which was discussed was the finding of a site for the construction of military quarters for the Armed Forces cadres serving on the island and it was agreed that the military force in Samothrace will be reinforced.
