Defence Minister Panos Kammenos meets the Mayor of Kalamata Panagiotis Nikas

June 7, 2016

The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos met with the Mayor of Kalamata Panagiotis Nikas to discuss an issue that arose from published articles of fiction and misinformation which, unfortunately, the Metropolitan of Messinia prefecture reiterates in his official document.

As MPs of this constituency who contacted the Minister of National Defence, have been informed, his statements of March 2015 about the 120th Air Training Wing evolving into an International Air Training Centre, are true.

Never had been raised the issue of closing the military camp, as a television station owner and former owner of night clubs announced and as this was then reproduced in the local city press. His statement, however, that this camp cannot keep being staffed at 400% whereas borderline units are poorly staffed, is true.

An order has been given for the “requests” which had been submitted in the past by authorities and agents in order to serve favouritism, to be examined. It is clear that favouritism is over. Every Greek citizen must have an equal military service.
