The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos met with his Israeli counterpart Moshe Ya’ Alon in the context of his official visit to Israel.

During their meeting, the two Ministers discussed about issues pertinent to maritime security and to the security of the energy resources within the EEZ of Greece, Cyprus and Israel; issues of cooperation in the field of defence industry and issues regarding energy transfer, not only at a “Government to Government” level, but at a “Business to Business” level as well. They also discussed about other topics of common interest, such as security issues in the Middle East and Northern Africa.

The two Ministers also signed an agreement about the regulations to be applied for personnel travelling and residing in the two countries in order to participate in military exercises and cooperation.

The Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, who accompanies the Minister of National Defence in his visit, will sign an agreement with his Israeli counterpart on the cooperation of the hydrographic services of the two countries.

The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos also met with the leadership of the Israeli Armed Forces.
