Defence Minister Panos Kammenos’ official visit to Jordan

The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos, in the context of his official visit to Jordan, met with the Prince Feisal Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, the Jordanian Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Dr. Abdullah Ensour and the Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament Atef Tarawneh.

With the Prince of Jordan and the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, they discussed the current developments in the broader region and the dangers emanating from the states’ national defence. Both sides concured that these dangers cannot be faced solely, but a multilateral regional action is needed.

The need for the European Union and the international community in general to turn to Jordan for assistance, since it is an actor of stability and deterrence of threats, was underlined.

Matters of defence cooperation between the two countries, also in the field od defence industry, were also discussed.

With the Speaker of the Parliament, who is a graduate of the National Technical University of Athens, they discussed the enhancement of parliamentary diplomacy and the relations between the two Parliaments.

The Minister of National Defence extended an invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on behalf of the Greek Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nikos Voutsis, to visit Greece. The Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament extensively referred to the refugees issue his country faces and expressed he hope that Greek enterprises will return to the region.
 
The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos also visited the Jordanian Special Forces Training Centre.
