Defence Minister Panos Kammenos’ presence at the graduation ceremony of personnel of the 181st Course of Underwater Demolitions.

May 25, 2015

The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos accompanied by the Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis attended the graduation ceremony of the personnel who attended the 181st Underwater Demolition Course which was held at the Underwater Demolitions Command, Skaramagkas.

The Minister of National Defence, among others, stated:

We are here today, with the Chief of the Hellenic Navy, the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, the Chief of the Fleet, the Commander of the Special Forces, Officers and Trainers of this Unit which is not one of the select Units of the Armed Forces; it is the best select squad in the entire Alliance, and out of it too.

Therefore, their relatives must be proud for those graduates who became underwater demolitionists. We, Greece, the entire nation, we are very proud, because we can still have so skillful graduates.

I wish to thank you on behalf of the Greek people and tell you that you will be fully supported by the Ministry of National Defence, as well as by the entire Greek people because at these hard times that Greece is going through, it needs people like you, sworn and determined to reach our objective of being rescued despite the difficulties we may go through. And we will do it standing on our feet, because Greeks stand on their feet even when they reverence God.

I congratulate you once more. Thank you. I wish you to have a successful career. We will meet each other again soon, on Fleves islands, to inaugurate a bust of Ntanys Theofanidis and honour this great “frogman”.

Thank you very much”.
