“A great number of visitors attended the parade today; the people of Thessaloniki and Macedonia showed a great love for the presence of cruiser “Averof” in the port of the city and visited it.
By decision of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff and the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, the cruiser “Averof” will remain in Thessaloniki, at least, until 21 November, Feast of Virgin Mary which is celebrated by the Armed Forces, in order to satisfy all the requests of schools and citizens.
We thank our citizens in particular for the truly unreserved love and interest they showed for the ship of the liberation, the flagship of the Hellenic Fleet which never struck the Greek flag”.
