The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos and the Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Georgios Giakoumakis visited the Frigate “ADRIAS” and exchanged Easter greetings with the Officers, NCOs and the crew.
The Minister of National Defence stated the following:
“I would like to wish Happy Easter to all Officers, NCOs, women and men of the Armed Forces, National Guards, retired officers and reservists. The message of the resurrection is a message of hope.
I would like to thank them, in particular, because, despite the pressure that they have been submitted to and they still are, due to the financial crisis, through deep salary cuts, they maintain a high morale, defending our national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Prime Minister’s presence today on board the Frigate “ADRIAS”, with the Chief of the Hellenic Navy, sends a message to the Armed Forces; the message that we all stand by them.
At a time when we have to deal with Turkish provocative action along the islands of Eastern Aegean Sea, the Armed Forces react to every provocation, they defend the national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
We ask everybody to respect the international law, to respect the borders and be aware that Greece’s Armed Forces are not willing to yield not even one millimeter of Greece’s territory, Greek territorial waters and Greek air space. Greek people are by them.”
