Responding to an invitation extended by the United States Secretary of Defence Mr. Leon Panetta, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos shall visit the United States of America, from 1 to 3 April.
During his three-day visit, Mr. Avramopoulos shall meet in Washington with his US counterpart, while in New York he will meet with high commissioners of the Hellenic and Cypriot Diaspora. Moreover, he will attend a lunch hosted by the American Jewish Committee.
More specifically, on Sunday April 1, the Minister of National Defence shall attend the Hierarchical memorial service that will be held at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, officiated by the Archbishop of America Mr. Demetrios, in honour of the fallen at the Cyprus Liberation Struggle. On that same day, he will meet with representatives of the Hellenic and Cypriot Diaspora.
In Washington, the meeting with his US counterpart at the Pentagon will take place on Tuesday April 3 at 17:00, Greek time.
The Minister of National Defence will be accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General M. Kostarakos.
