Defence Minister’s Mr. F. Fragkos statement from the Prefecture of Evros

June 11, 2012

From the village of Marassia in the Prefecture of Evros, where he attended yesterday the annual Memorial Service of the Lady of Marassia, Vassiliki Lambidou, the Minister of National Defence Mr. F. Fragkos made the following statement:

“We had the chance to honour Lady Vassiliki, the Lady of Marassia, the Lady who unites us and offers us a vision for exaltation. As I mentioned earlier to our personnel, it is not the material goods but the moral values, our culture, our History, our traditions that will allow us to remain standing. And we will remain.

Today, I would like to assure you of one thing, as Caretaker Minister of National Defence. I wish that Democracy will be practiced and I will give over to the elected Minister of Defence.

However, I would like to tell you something. Have no doubts concerning the potentials of the Hellenic Army. I will repeat it once more. Yes, it is a deterrence factor, yet a powerful, silent military power that, if the circumstances will demand it, can make thunderous noise.

Thank you”.
