By decision of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos, the allocation of military personnel to the Directorate of Special Education of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports, as drivers and escorts for school busses, for the transfer of students of Special Schools, until the end of school years 2012-13.
It should be reminded that since the beginning of the school year, the Ministry of National Defence has allocated 33 NCOs as drivers and escorts, to this end.
This decision has been taken following a pertinent request by the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports, Mr. Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos, so as to transfer the students in special schools.
According to the same decision, the Ministry of National Defence allocated one more NCO as driver to the school bus of the Special Elementary School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people of Arghiroupoli, until June 15 2013, because the regular driver was transferred to another agent and the students could not be transferred to their school.
It is also mentioned that in case the Ministry of National Defence did not respond to this request, there was a risk that the students of the Special Schools would not be able to go to their schools.
The abovementioned allocation of military personnel is included in the context of social contribution of the Armed Forces to the citizens who undergo difficulties every day and, particularly, the more vulnerable social groups.
