The Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos is in Luxembourg these two days (Monday and Tuesday, April 22 and 23 2013), in order to participate in the Meeting of Defence Ministers of the European Union and the European Defence Agency (EDA) Steering Board. On the sidelines of the works, the Minister of National defence had bilateral contacts with several of his colleagues.
The issues discussed at the Meeting of Defence Ministers are, among others, the preparation of the European Council to be held in December for matters of defence, the European cooperation in the field of defence industry, the effectiveness of battle formations, cyber defence, UAVs etc.
It should be underlined that at yesterday night’s working dinner, the recent agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on Kosovo, the developments in Mali and the broader region of the Sahel, as well security issues in Libya and their effect on the Sahel zone were discussed.
