The Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos will go to Thessaloniki in order to attend the celebrations for the celebrations on the occasion of the liberation of the city of Thessaloniki and the celebrations for the Greek National Day October 28.

On Thursday, October 25 2012, Mr. Panagiotopoulos will visit the C’ Army Corps HQ, where he will have cooperation with the Commander, Lieutenant General Georgios Bassiakoulis, and the staff officers. Afterwards, he will attend the oath taking ceremony of new officers at the Military School of Combat Support Officers, where he will perform a sabre award ceremony for the graduate officers.

Immediately after, he will meet with delegates of the Armed Forces’ Retired Officers Association at the area of Thessaloniki and he will then meet with the Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Mr. Theodoros Karaoglou, his Beatitude Bishop Anthimos of Thessaloniki, the Mayor of Thessaloniki Mr. Yannis Boutaris, the Alternate Head of Central Macedonia Region Mr. Dionissis Psomiadis and the Deputy Regional Governor Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

On Thursday night he will attend the concert of the Bands of all three Branches of the Armed Forces, at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.

On Friday, October 26 2012, he will attend the Doxology for the feast of the city’s Patron Saint Aghios Dimitrios and the historic anniversary of the city’s liberation, accompanying the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias and the Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras.

On Saturday, October 27 2012, the Minister will attend the celebration of revival for the entry of the Hellenic Army in the city of Thessaloniki at 1912 and an official hoist of the Hellenic Flag at the White Tower, at the presence of the Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Mr. Theodoros Karaoglou and the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias.

On Sunday, October 28 2012, Mr. Panagiotopoulos will attend the military parade, accompanying the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias.
