Following the recent changes carried out at all levels of Commandments and Branches of the Armed Forces, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos, invites by urgent order the Commanders to pay particular attention to loyally observing security rules for personnel, plants and materiel, and personally supervising the exact implementation of the following:
a. Continuous support of conscripts for matters of physical and mental health, family and personal problems.
b. Thorough research of all accusations concerning possible problems reported by Unit to Unit or independent Subunit.
c. Constant control of personnel duties and shifts, so as to ensure rational and equitable distribution.
d. Infliction of punishment when needed, in the sense of justice, as well as adherence to regulations in force; spirit of tolerance and understanding when necessary.
e. Constant care for the quality of the mess and the alimentation in general, as well as the settlement-preservation of matters pertaining to plants and infrastructure (barrack rooms, communal areas etc).
f. Constant care for the observance of rules of sanitation, relating to the living of conscripts.
g. Regular constant personal interviews (essential, not procedural) for the entire personnel, aiming at bringing out true problems.
h. Constant contact with the families of conscripts and consultation for surfacing problems (concerning health, behaviour etc).
i. Reward for the personnel, when needed, for spirit lift and role modelling.
j. Special care for conscripts with children and conscripts who face health problems, as well as for those who have lost one or both parents.
With this order, the Minister of National Defence underlines the fact that all Commanders – because the period we are living is extremely difficult for the entire Greek people – ought to administer and handle their subordinate personnel, and particularly the conscripts, in a spirit that combines efficiency, discipline and jointness with attention and respect towards human element.
