The Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos, shall go to Cyprus, where he will participate to the Informal Meeting of EU Ministers of Defence on September 26 and 27 2012.
During the first day of the Meeting, the following issues will be discussed: the developments in Security, the issue of South Mediterranean and the Middle East, including Libya, Sahel and the broader region.
The second day, the Ministers will be briefed on the progress made in CSDP operations and missions (ATALANTA, EUTM, EUCAP Nestor and ALTHEA). As far as the Horn of Africa is concerned, the Ministers will be called to discuss on the impact the current developments in Policy and Security have on the operational commitment of the European Union.
