Defence Minister’s statement for the Armed Forces Day celebration

Today, November the 21st, Day of celebration of Greece’s Armed Forces, Defence Minister Evangelos Venizelos attended a doxology at the Dionysious the Areopagite church, in Athens and afterwards, representing the Greek Government, laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Mr. Venizelos made the following statement:

“Orthodoxy’s most tender day, that of The Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, is also the Armed Forces Day.
Greece embraces its Armed Forces and personnel with love, respect and honour, because at a time of fluidity and insecurity we must have solid support, we must feel, as a country, integrity and have a prospect and we will only discover those traits through cohesion, through our commitment in a joint effort for national restoration”
