The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis attended the inauguration of the upgrade procedure of 122mm rockets, at the premises of the Hellenic Defence Systems, on Wednesday 16 September 2020, in Lavrio. The project is implemented as a partnership of the HDS with the Serbian Company EDePRO.

In his address, the Deputy Minister of National Defence stated the following:

“It is with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation by the Chief Executive Officer of the Hellenic Defence Systems, to attend an event for the inauguration of the upgrade of 122mm missiles, which is conducted in cooperation with the Serbian company EdePro.

The know-how of developing and producing portable weapons and ammunitions, in parallel with the aim to upgrade and modernize the weapon and missile systems, both confirm the capabilities of the Hellenic Defence Systems and turn this company into a fundamental force multiplier of the domestic Defence Industry.  

The Ministry of National defence, from the first moment – since the programme statements of the Government – set the reinforcement of the domestic defence industry as a top political priority and as a crucial action for the maintenance and enhancement of the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces.

The Prime Minister himself, in his recent speech in Thessaloniki International Fair and in the context of the provocations against our country over the last period, set the reinforcement of the armed forces as a legacy for its security and as a paramount commitment to the Greek people, who will bear the financial burden, and announced six emblematic decision which multiply the power, the operability and the effectiveness of the Greek arms.
 

The Prime Minister set the framework. From there on, with an attitude of extroversion on the part of the Commands and with an unreserved support of the Government, of the Political Leadership of the Armed Forces, it is necessary to draw a new path in order to make our defence industry more competitive and capable of fulfilling its work on time, executing orders and producing a financial object.
 

We are going through a period in which Greece, with a reliable foreign and financial policy, is a strong country, an independent country, proud and safe, able to stare at the future with confidence and perspective. It promotes the necessary correctional reforms and attracts investments and institutional capitals, which change the nature of the economy and capitalize the reliability it gained after having dealt with the recent crises effectively.

I am fully convinced that the leadership of the Hellenic Defence Systems has the vision and the necessary expertise on this subject in order to seize the opportunity and lead the HDS to the future, developing competitive policies and promoting an innovative, outreach policy of attracting new investors, both home and abroad, taking full advantage of the equipment and the highly skilled personnel of the company”.
