The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis, representing the President of the Greek Government, attended the celebrations for the 101st anniversary of the liberation of Komotini and Alexandroupoli held in Komotini, on Friday 14 May 2021.
He attended the official doxology at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of our Most Holy Lady, celebrated by the Metropolitan bishop of Maroneia and Komotini Panteleimon. Afterwards, the Deputy Minister of National Defence laid a wreath to the Heroes’ Monument of the city.
The celebration was also attended by the Metropolitan bishop of Kalavryta and Aigialeia Hieronymos, the Metropolitan of Xanthi and Peritheorion Panteleimon, the Deputy Regional Governor responsible for Rodopi prefecture Mr. Nikolaos Tsalikidis, the Mayor of Komotini Mr. Ioannis Garanis, the MPs of the Prefecture of Rodopi Mr. Evripidis Stylianidis (Nea Dimokratia Party), Mr. Dimitrios Charitou (SYRIZA Party), Mr. Ilhan Ahmet (KINAL party), the MP of the Elliniki Lysi Party in Serres Constituency Mr. Konstantinos Boumpas, the Commander of the XXI Armour Brigade Brigadier Antonios Theodosiadis and the Commander of the 29th Mechanized Infantry Brigade Brigadier Dimitrios Kampouridis.
