Deputy Defence Minister Alkiviadis Stefanis attends the celebration for the feast of Saint Kosmas of Aetolia and for the bicentenary from the national awakening, in Konitsa

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis attended today, Tuesday 24 August 2021, the celebrations honouring Saint Kosmas of Aetolia, at the Church bearing his name in Konitsa. The celebrations were held under the auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, on the occasion of the 200 years anniversary from the outbreak of the Greek Revolution, with the Saint’s work serving as its firm foundation.

The Deputy Minister attended the Hierarchical Divine Service, officiated by the Metropolitan of Dryinoupolis, Pogoniani and Konitsa Mr. Andreas.

Then, he visited the Municipality of Konitsa and met with the Mayor Mr. Nikos Exarchou, with whom they discussed the projects in process in the wider area, through the contribution of the Ministry of National Defence. During his stay in Konitsa, the Deputy Minister met with residents at the central square of the city.

The celebrations were also attended by the MP of Ioannina ( ND) Mr. Stavros Kalogiannis, the Commander of the 8th Motorized Brigade Brigadier General Christos Siorentas, the General Police Inspector of Epirus Brigadier General Konstantinos Douvalis, Metropolitans and local representatives.
