The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis awarded the diplomas at the oath taking ceremony of Career Sergeants’ class of 2021 “Staff Sergeant (Inf) Dimitrios Itsios” at the Career NCO School, in Trikala, on 16 July 2021.
The oath taking ceremony was celebrated by the Metropolitan Bishop of Trikki and Stagoi Chrysostomos, in the presence of the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis. In total, 178 Career Sergeants from Greece and Cyprus took their oath.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence presented the relatives of our hero Dimitrios Itsios who sacrificed himself at the Battle of the Metaxas Line in April 1941, with a commemorative plaquette.
During his visit, the Deputy Minister of National Defence attended the progress of the works performed at the NCO School. He visited the new building of the mess which is currently under construction, due to a donation by the government of Cyprus, the new classrooms, due to a donation by Latsis Group, and the new climbing tower.
