On Friday, 8 November 2019, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis, representing the Hellenic Government, attended the festivities taking place in Mytilini, on the occasion of the 107 years anniversary since the Liberation of the island.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence attended the Doxology in Aghios Athanassios Cathedral. Afterwards, he laid a wreath at the War Memorial and attended the parade of civilian and military groups. Following the parade, he visited the Navy’s Coast Patrol Vessel Torpedo Boat “ANDROMEDA”, as well as the 618 Floating Vessel of the Port Police Corps and addressed the crews’ personnel.
He also attended the annual event for the 107th Anniversary of the island’s Liberation, held at Mytilini Municipal Theater and visited the exhibition regarding Pavlos Kountouriotis’ collection of items, hosted at the Theater’s foyer.
