Deputy Defence Minister Nikolaos Chardalias accompanies a humanitarian aid cargo for the Ukrainian people and the Greek community

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias departed on Sunday, 27 February 2022, from “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport, as head of Greece’s mission of humanitarian aid with medical, pharmaceutical and first aid material. The humanitarian aid is carried by C-130 aircraft flights of the Hellenic Air Force and by civilian cargo carriers in Poland, and its final recipients are Ukrainian citizens and citizens of Ukraine’s Greek community.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence is accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymousis.

Mr. Chardalias delivered the following statement, in “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport:

From the first moment of the Russian invasion, Greece and its allies stood up and spoke up against the blatant violation of the principles of International Law and of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. We stand by Ukraine in every manner. In this context, we accompany today the first humanitarian aid with medical, pharmaceutical and first aid material. We express our solidarity, our wishes, our prayers to the Ukrainian people and the Greek community, who suffered so tragic losses”.
