Deputy Defence Minister Nikolaos Chardalias attends honouring events during the visit of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Municipality of Vyronas

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, represented the President of the Greek Government at the honouring event organized during the visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bertholomew to the Municipality of Vyronas.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, at first, visited the Metochi of Ascension, of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra in Mount Athos, where he participated in the reception of Patriarch Bartholomew, and attended a ceremony organized in order to name a nearby street as “St. Hieronymus Simonopetritis’ street” and to unveil its street name sign, and held in the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch.

Afterwards, he attended the canonization ceremony of Saint Hieronymus Simonopetritis, as well as the Great Vespers at which His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew officiated, held in the Metochi of Ascension.

In the end, he visited the City Hall of Vyronas, where a ceremony was held for the proclamation of Patriarch Bartholomew as an honorary citizen of Vyronas Municipality, on the occasion of his 30th anniversary on the patriarchal throne, to honour his multifaceted social, humanitarian, environmental and spiritual contribution.

The ceremonies were also attended by the Minister of Citizen Protection Mr. Panagiotis Theodorikakos, the Mayor of Vyronas Mr. Grigoris Katopodis, Metropolitan Bishops and Hierarchs of the Church of Greece, the Civili Administrator of Mount Athos Mr. Athanasios Martinos, as well as representatives of state and civil authorities.
