Deputy Defence Minister Nikolaos Chardalias attends the commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the Kalavrytan holocaust

The Deputy minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias attended the commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the Kalavrytan Holocaust, on Monday 13 December 2021, as a representative of the President of the Hellenic Government.

Mr. Chardalias attended the Memorial Service which was held in the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Martyr Town of Kalavryta and he laid a wreath to the Monument of the Fallen, on the Site of the Execution.

Afterwards, Mr. Chardalias was toured by the Mayor of Kalavryta, Mr. Thanasis Papadopoulos, in the Museum of the Kalavrytan Holocaust and then in the commemorative photography exhibition entitled “Fiery Memories” for “caprive women and children”.

The commemoration was attended by the MP of Achaia Constituency Mr. Asimakis Fotilas, representative of the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, the former President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Andreas Katsaniotis, the MPs of Achaia Constituency Ms. Christina Alexopoulou, Mr. Angelos Tsigkris and Mr. Konstantinos Markou, the Regional Governor of Western Greece Mr. Nektarios Farmakis, the Mayor of Kalavryta Mr. Thanasis Papadopoulos, the Ambassadors of Germany Mr. Ernst Reichel and Poland Mr. Artur Lompart, representatives of Leaders of Political Parties, of the Regional and Local Government, Mayors from other martyr towns of Greece and from the town of Morphou, Cyprus, as well as representatives of the Armed Forces and Security Corps.
