The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias completed, on Tuesday 18 January 2022, his three-day tour from Diapontian Islands to Gavdos Island, by visiting Formations and Units on Crete.
More specifically, Mr. Chardalias visited the HQs of Crete Naval Base, NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC), of the 5th Infantry Brigade and the 115th Combat Wing in Chania, as well of the 133th Combat Group in Kasteli, Irakleio.
During his visits, the Deputy Minister of National Defence was informed by the Commands about their history, organization, mission, as well as their current operational and training activities. He also toured their premises and infrastructure and he had the chance to meet and converse with their personnel.
During his visit to NMIOTC, among other things, he addressed shortly the personnel of NATO member-states currently serving in the Staff of NMIOTC, and in the 133th Combat Group, he visited also the hangar of Readiness Aircraft F-16, B52+, where he talked to pilots and technicians of the aircraft.
Mr. Chardalias, after the completion of his today’s visits, he stated the following from the base of the 133th Combat Group:
“A short tour to Formations, Units and Outposts of the Armed Forces is completed today.
And from here, from Crete, we confirm the high morale, the strong sense of duty and devotion of the Armed Forces’ personnel. They are ready, at any time, to defend our sovereign rights, the sovereign rights of all the Greek people”.
