The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias visited Formations and Units of all the three branches of the Armed Forces, located at Elefsina Air Base, on Holy Monday, 18 April 2022.
Specifically, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited the Hellenic Air Force Support Command (HAFSC), the 112th Combat Wing and its subordinate Squadrons, the premises of the Navy Aircraft Squadron and the 865th Air Supply Battalion.
Mr. Chardalias was briefed by the Commanders, Lieutenant Colonel Petros Chatziris (HAFSC), Brigadier General Vasileios Tosios (112th CW), Captain Dimitrios Kamaras (NAS) and Lieutenant Colonel Panagiotis Paschalidis (865th ASB) on the organization, mission, work, training of pilots and technicians, as well as on the maintenance of the air assets stationed at the base. He also toured the premises, the maintenance hangars of air assets, the premises for packing, inspection and repair of parachutes, and he conversed and exchanged wishes on the occasion of the oncoming Easter Holiday, with pilots, engineers and the rest of the ground support personnel, as well as with personnel of the 865th ASB.
In addition, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, in the context of these visits, attended an exhibition of equipment and assets, and a presentation of “Rescue and Provision of First Aid” at the Abseil Tower, performed by personnel of the 31st Search and Rescue Operations Squadron. He also visited the Centre of Frequencies Acoustic Analysis and Naval Operations Aircraft P3B ORION of the Navy Aircraft Squadron, Canadair CL-215 Aircraft of the 355th Tactical Transport Squadron and C-130 Hercules Aircraft of the 356th Tactical Transport Squadron, as well as the Museum of the 865th Air Supply Battalion.
During the visits, the Deputy Minister of National Defence was accompanied, depending on the service to which each unit is subordinate, by the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff Lieutenant General Themistoklis Bourolias and the Commander of the Special Warfare Command of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas. The visits were also attended by the Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command Major General Georgios Manouras, the Deputy Chief of the Fleet Rear Admiral Polychronis Koulouris and the Commander of the Navy Aviation Command Commodore Ilias Raptis.
