The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias paid a visit to bases of Formations, Units and Surveillance Outposts of the Armed Forces, on islands of Central and Northern Aegean Sea, on Thursday 10 February 2022.

Mr. Chardalias, at first, travelled to Skyros islands and visited the HQ of the 135^th Combat Group, he attended a briefing organized by the Command of the 135^th Combat Group, the Command of the 7^th Control and Report Post, as well as the Command of Skyros Naval Station, on their mission, work and current activities. Afterwards, he visited the 22^nd Guided Missile Squadron, the READINESS fighter aircraft F-16, as well as the Echelon of the Joint Unit of Medium Altitude – Long Endurance UAV (MALE UAV), from which Unmanned Aerial Vehicles HERON 1 operate.

Then, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited Agios Efstratios, where he visited the Surveillance Outpost of the island.

The next stop on his journey was Samothraki, where Mr. Chardalias visited the HQ of the 41^st Infantry Regiment’s Tactical Command. He attended a briefing by the Commander of the Tactical Command and the Commander of Samothraki Naval Station on their mission and current activities, whereas, afterwards, he attended a demonstration organized by the Readiness Troops of the Group and also visited the G3-rifle firing simulator.

On Limnos island, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited the HQ of the 130^th Combat Group, the HQ of the 88^th Army Command, the 88^th Medical Corps Battalion, the Infant/Child Care of the Garrison and the Naval Station of Limnos. He also visited the READINESS F-16 fighter aircraft echelon, as well as the echelon of SUPER PUMA helicopters, where he conversed with pilots and technicians.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence was accompanied by the Commander of the XII Infantry Mechanised Division Major General Stavros Papastathopoulos in Samothraki, the Commander of the 88^th Army Command Brigadier General Theodoros Athanasopoulos on Limnos island and the Deputy Commander of the 88^th Army Command Colonel Spyridon Papageorgiou on Agios Efstratios.

During his today’s visits, Mr. Chardalias met with the Mayor of Skyros Mr. Nikolaos Mavrikos, the Mayor of Agios Efstratios Ms. Maria Kakali, the Mayor of Samothraki Mr. Nikolaos Galatoumos and the Mayor of Limnos Mr. Dimitrios Marinakis. Moreover, on Limnos, the Deputy Minister of National Defence had the chance to meet with His Eminence the Metropolitan of Limnos and Agios Efstratios Ierotheos III and the Prefect Mr. Angelos Vlattas.
