The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias will be visiting the headquarters of Groups, Units, Services and Surveillance Outposts of the Army and the Navy, on islands of the Eastern Aegean Sea, on Tuesday the 27th, and on Wednesday the 28th of September 2022.
Specifically, the Deputy Minister of National Defence will be visiting the islands of Ikaria, Fournoi, Patmos, Leipsoi, Leros, Nisyros and Tilos on Tuesday 27 September, and on Wednesday, 28 September he will be on the islands of Chalki, Kasos and Astypalaia.
He will also visit the gunboat NIKIFOROS which participates in the operation of “Surveillance of Eastern Aegean Sea Islands” and the Fast Patrol Missile Boat TROUPAKIS which participates in “COAST RECOGNITION 2022” Exercise.
In addition, Mr. Chardalias will have meetings with local Municipal, Regional and Religious authorities, with Commanders Security Forces’ Agencies and with residents of islands.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence will be accompanied by the Commander of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands Lieutenant General Dimitrios Choupis and by Commanders of local Formations.
In view of his two-day visit, the Deputy Minister of National Defence stated the following:
“Our message is clear: Greece, through a constant respect of the International Law, including the Law of the Sea, seeks for an understanding and for good neighbourly relations in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect. Our country has always been – and still is – a power of peace and stability in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Matters pertinent to the defence armouring and the reinforcement of our deterrence power, as well as matters of national sovereignty remain non-negotiable!”
