The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias visited, on Tuesday, 12 April 2022, the military airport in Pachi, Megara, and the 2nd Army Aviation Group, as well as the 2nd and the 4th Army Aviation Helicopter Battalions, accompanied by the Director of the Army Aviation Directorate of Hellenic Army General Staff, Brigadier General Ioannis Koukoulis and the Commander of the 1st Army Aviation Brigade, Brigadier General Ioannis Cheimarios.
In the context of this visit, Mr. Chardalias was briefed by the Commanders of the Group and of the Units, Colonel Stamatios Aspiotis (2nd Army Aviation Group), Lieutenant Colonel Ioakeim Dallas (2nd Army Aviation Helicopters Battalion) and Lieutenant Colonel Panagiotis Bouzoukos (4th Army Aviation Helicopter Battalion) on the organization, the mission, the flight work, the training of pilots and technicians, as well as the maintenance of the Army Aviation assets stationed at the airport. He also toured the premises, the maintenance hangars of CH-47D, NH-90, UH-1H helicopters and C-12 aircraft, conversed with pilots, technicians and the rest ground support personnel.
He also visited the CH-47D helicopters flight simulator, which operates at Megara airport and he attended a part of the crews’ operational training of the 4th Army Aviation Helicopter Battalion on tactical scenarios of missions simulating the particular flight conditions of the helicopters.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence congratulated and thanked the Commands and the personnel of the 2nd Army Aviation Group, the 2nd and the 4th Army Aviation Helicopter Battalions for their excellent performance in the twofold work they perform, by responding daily to high requirements for the execution of multiple operational activities, as well as to missions of social contribution, day and night, under any conditions, in fields such as firefighting and air evacuations.
