The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias, accompanied by the Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, visited today, Wednesday 10 August 2022, the National Operations Centre of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS/NOC), where he was briefed on the development of the extensive Search and Rescue operation taking place in the sea region south of Rhodes island.
The Armed Forces participated in this operation with the LST IKARIA that immediately went to the area and has assumed “On Scene Commander” (OSC) duties, the Hellenic Navy Roussen-class fast patrol boat, three Helicopters (a S-70 , a Super Puma and a AB – 205) and a HERON UAV, while Frigate ADRIAS has also been called and approaches the area.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence, in the presence of both the Chief/HNDGS and the Deputy Chief/HNGS Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymoussis HN, congratulated the Centre’s personnel on their effective management and coordination of this incident, and thanked them for the overall task they perform everyday with dedication and motivation, aiming at the security of our country and its citizens.
