Deputy Defence Minister Nikolaos Hardalias attends the event of EKAV for the “Rescuer’s Sacrifice Day”

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias attended yesterday, Wednesday 16 February 2022, the event in honour of the “Rescuer’s Sacrifice Day”, which was organised by the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) at the premises of the 112 Combat Wing, at the Military Airport of Elefsis, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Government Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

In the course of the event, a memorial service was conducted, officiated by his Beatitude Hieronymus II Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, in memory of the fallen in the line of duty EKAV Rescuers, Nurses and Doctors and speeches were addressed by the Prime Minister, the Alternate Minister of Health Ms. Assimina Gaga and the President of EKAV Mr. Nikolaos Papaefstathiou.

In the context of the ceremony, the Prime Minister granted an honourary award to current EKAV personnel, for their professionalism, conscientiousness, self-sacrifice and devotion in exercising their duties.

In the person of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Konstantinos Floros, the Armed Forces were among the bodies awarded, for their timeless support and operational cooperation with the Organisation.

The event was attended by members of the Ministerial Council, MPs of the Hellenic Parliament, the Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, General Secretaries of Ministries, the Chiefs of the Armed Forces and Security Corps’ General Staffs, Governors of Health Regions, EKAV personnel, as well as family members of the fallen.
