The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias observed today, Tuesday 19 July 2022, the DV-Day activities of the Bilateral Joint Greek-US Exercise “POSEIDON’S RAGE 22”, which took place in Chania, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nikolaos Dendias.
The Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros and the Chief/HAFGS Lieutenant General Themistoklis Bourolias, as well as the US Ambassador to Greece Mr. George Tsunis also attended the DV-Day. The activities taking place at the 115 CW HQ where also attended by NAMFI’s Commander Lieutenant General Stavros Tzoumerkiotis, the Regional Police Chief Lieutenant General Georgios Lympinakis, the Commanders of the 5th INF Brigade Brigadier General Nikolaos Giannopoulos, of the Crete Naval Base Commodore Nektarios Lymperakis HN, and the Commanders of local Services of the Security Corps.
In the context of the DV-Day the following activities took place:
– Briefing by the Commanders of the 115 CW Colonel Christos Grigoroudis, and of the 48 Operations Group Commander Colonel Peter Lee, as well as a static display of F-35 and F-15 US combat aircraft, at the 115 CW HQ in Souda.
– A tour at the compartments of the United States Coast Guard’s “SENTINEL CLASS” vessel, docked in Crete Naval Base.
– Visit to the ΝΑΤΟ Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre – Greece (NMIOTC) where, after the briefing presented by the Centre’s Commander, Commodore Charalambos Thymis HN, a demonstration of “clearance – seizure of vessel” took place in Souda Bay, with the participation of trainees from the Armed Forces and the Security Corps.
