The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias represented yesterday, Sunday 2 April 2023, the Hellenic Government at the celebrations on the occasion of the 82nd Anniversary of the Battle of the Forts, which were organised by the Municipality of Kato Nevrokopi and held at the local Community of Ohiro.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence attended the Holy mass at the Church of Aghia Triada, officiated by the Reverend Metropolitan of Zihni and Nevrokopi Ierotheos. Afterwards, he attended the memorial service and laid a wreath at the Monument of Lisse Fort.
Mr. Hardalias also attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Lisse Fort Museum-Park, a modern touristic and educational area, created by the close and good cooperation between the Government, the Ministry of National Defence and the local authorities, so as to promote this historical monument. The visitors are given the opportunity to experience the heroic battles that determined the Greek defence during WW2, by the use of digital technology.
On the occasion of the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor of Kato Nevrokopi Mr. Ioannis Kyriakidis awarded an honourable distinction to the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias, as well as to the Honourary Chief/HAGS and former Deputy Minister of National Defence General (ret.) Alkiviadis Stefanis, for their decisive contribution to the immediate processing of all necessary formalities, so that the area for the establishment of the new Museum would be conceded by the Ministry of National Defence to the Municipality of Kato Nevrokopi.
The celebrations were also attended by the MPs of Drama Mr. Konstantinos Blouchos, Mr. Theofilos Xanthopoulos and Ms Chara Kefalidou, the Deputy Head of Drama Region Mr. Grigorios Papaemmanouil representing the Governor of East Macedonia & Thrace, the Commanding General of the 1st Army/EU-OHQ Lieutenant general Ioannis Tsioplos, the Rector of the Democritus University of Thrace Mr. Fotios Maris, delegations of the Armed Forces and the Security Corps, and others.
On Saturday 1 April 2023, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, accompanied by the Commanding General of the C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR Lieutenant General Paris Kapravelos, met with the Command and National Guardsmen of the National Guard Battalion of Drama, at the Drama Garrison Officers Club.
