The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias, from Sunday 30 July until Wednesday 2 August 2023, under the instructions of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikos Dendias, will implement a schedule of non-routine inspections and evaluations of security measures and fire safety of depots and ammunition, explosive ordnance and fuel storage sites in
Formations and Units of the Armed Forces throughout Greece. The Deputy Minister of National Defence, accompanied per case by the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Air Force and Navy General Staffs, through on the spot inspections in critical and vital basic ammunition and fuel storage sites, as well as through the conduct of sudden fire safety exercises, will thoroughly examine all issues concerning the security of personnel, assets and materiel. In detail, Mr. Hardalias will successively visit the following headquarters:
Sunday 30 July
-The 389 Advanced Ammunition Depot in Xilagani, Komotini.
-The 873 Fuel Depot in Thessaloniki.
-The 110 Battle Wing and the 1 st Fuel Pipe Command in Larisa.
Monday 31 July
-The 8 th Ammunition Depots Company in Petsali, Ioannina.
-The 117 Battle Wing in Andravida.
-The 116 Battle Wing in Araxos.
Tuesday 1 August
-The 115 Battle Wing in Chania where, besides the inspections, he will
observe a small scale exercise in the Fire-fighters training field.
-The Supply and Transportation Company of the 5 th Support Battalion, in
Crete Naval Station (Souda Bay).
Wednesday 2 August
-The 114 Battle Wing in Tanagra where, among others, he will observe a test
exercise of a Fire Safety Plan and Major Incident Response.
The schedule of the visits and inspections is expected to continue and be extended to all Armed Forces Units.
