The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias will pay a visit today Sunday 6, and until Tuesday 8 November 2022, successively to Evros, Lemnos and Mytilene.
In particular, the Deputy Minister of National Defence will have tonight, Sunday 6 November, a working meeting with the Commanders of the 1st Army, the D’ Army Corps and its subordinate Formations, at Alexandroupoli.
Tomorrow, Monday 7 November, he will travel by car alongside the Greek-Turkish land border, at the AORs of the XII and XVI Mechanised Infantry Divisions, and he will visit the Surveillance Outposts of the Army “KIPOI”, “126”, “DILOFO”, “GEFYRA PYTHIOU”, and the observatory “PRASINI PORTA”. Moreover, he will go to the HQ of the XVI Mechanised Infantry Division in Didimoteicho, and the Joint Border Control – Surveillance Centre in Nea Vyssa – Orestiada.
In the evening, he will go to the island of Lemnos, where he will meet with Government officials from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs of Australia, the Ambassador of Australia in Greece Mr. Arthur Spyrou, the Governor, and the Mayor of Lemnos island, along with whom an inspection will be performed to the areas where a Memorial will be built to honour the men of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in the island during the Gallipolis Campaign 1915-1916, and the final details will be finalised.
Finally, on Tuesday 8 November, Mr. Hardalias will visit the island of Lesvos, where he will represent the Hellenic Government to the celebrations for the 110th Anniversary of the Liberation of Mytilene.
