Deputy Defence Minister Nikolaos Hardalias visits the US Military Academy at West Point

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias concluded yesterday, Thursday 13 October 2022, his round of contacts in the United States of America, visiting the HQ of the US Military Academy at West Point, where he was received by the Academy’s Chief of Staff, Colonel Brian Reed.

Mr. Hardalias was briefed on the Academy’s mission and its training and education programme, and was toured at its venues.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence and the Academy’s Command underlined the excellent and constructive bilateral cooperation in the academic and military fields, by the implementation of mutual programmes and activities between the U.S. Military Academy and the Hellenic Army Academy.

Afterwards, Mr. Hardalias presented the Greek proposal regarding the joint development and implementation of a new programme named “ΦΙLIA”, through the exchange of students between the U.S. Military Academy and the Hellenic Army Academy, giving the opportunity to the future leaders of the two countries’ Armed Forces to expand their academic horizons and develop special personal and professional skills. The Greek proposal was enthusiastically heard and accepted.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence was accompanied by the Consul General of Greece to New York Mr. Konstantinos Konstantinou, the Consul to New York Mr. Dimitrios Papageorgiou, and the Greek Defence Attaché in the U.S. Colonel Panagiotis Vlahopoulos.
