Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis visits Army Formations, Units and Outposts, in the C and D Army Corps Area of Responsibility

On Thursday, 4 June 2020 and on Friday, 5 June 2020, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis visited Formations, Units and Outposts in the C and D Army Corps Area of Responsibility, in order to observe training activities. At the same time, in the context of the Uniform Borders Surveillance Body and the reinforcement of the ‘inter-service deterrence operations’ effectiveness, he inspected the borders surveillance assets and procedures.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence started his series of visits from Evros and the ‘PETROTON’ and ‘AETOS’ Fields of Fire and Exercises, where he observed practice fires and a Tactical Exercise.

Then, he successively visited the XXIII ARMORED BRIGADE and the 31 Mechanized Brigade headquarters and had meetings with the Formations’ Commanders, which were also attended by the local Police Authorities. He also visited the Tanks Simulators Center and was informed on its activities.

Concluding the program of first day visits, the Deputy Minister successively visited the ‘126’, ‘1’, ‘2’ Surveillance Outposts, as well as the ‘PRASINI PORTA’ Observation Post, where he inspected the construction, extension and reinforcement works regarding the artificial barriers and defensive works underway.

He also met with Hellenic Police members, who participate in joint actions with Army members.

On Friday, 5 June 2020, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited the D Army Corps, the Special Forces Operations’ Training Base 2nd Company and the Ehinos National Guard Battalion headquarters.

On his return, he visited Sergeant Dimitrios Itsios memorial, at Ano Poroia, Serres. During his two day trip, he met with the Maronias-Sapon mayor, Mr. Dinos Charitopolos.
