On Thursday, 18 October 2018, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha, represented the Hellenic Government at the events for the 106th anniversary of the liberation of Edessa from Ottoman rule. The Deputy Minister attended the doxology in the Metropolitan Church of Edessa and the memorial service at the city’s Memorial, followed by a wreath laying.
