On Wednesday 25 August 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis attended the inauguration ceremony of the pedestrian street along the seaside, held at the Artillery School, in N.Peramos, Attica.
The Ministry of National Defence, satisfying the request of Megara Municipality, granted a section of the Artillery School Barracks, for the construction of a modern pedestrian street, so that citizens can move with safety. Through the Hellenic Army General Staff, the Ministry has undertaken the planning, part of the funding and the project’s supervision.
In his address, the Deputy Minister of National Defence referred to the indissoluble bonds of the Artillery School with Megara Municipality and presented the project’s implementation progress and the contribution of all agencies for its successful completion.
He especially pointed out that “the grant of the section of the Artillery School Barracks for the construction of the pedestrian street, which will contribute as a catalyst in the safety and improvement of Megara Municipality citizens’ every day life, is only a small token of the everlasting and continuous contribution of the Armed Forces to the Greek society”.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Megara and Salamina Metropolitan Mr. Konstantinos, the Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Giorgos Kotsiras, the C Vice President of the Parliament and MP of B Western Sector of Attica (ND) Mr. Athanassios Bouras, the Secretary of the Parliament and MP of B Western Sector of Attica (ND) Mr. Evangelos Liakos, the Mayor of Megara Mr. Grigoris Stamoulis, the nobleman ship-owner Mr. Athanassios Martinos, who has undertaken the project’s main funding, the HAGS/Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kellis, representing the HNDGS/Chief, the Commander of the Artillery School Brigadier General Anastasios Dimoulas and representatives of the local community.
