Today, Friday 11 June 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis, addressed a speech on Smart Power during the 16th Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) High Level Course 2021 “Jean Rey” Module 4, at the Hellenic Air Force Academy.
The educational activity pertaining to the Common Security and Defence Policy in the EU was organized by the Director General of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy and International Relations of the MoD Dr. Konstantinos Balomenos, from 7 to 10 June 2021, and was attended by Officers, Diplomats, and supreme institutional factors of the EU in the field of education.
In his address the Deputy Minister presented the significance of smart power and the need to achieve national interests. He highlighted that an effective strategy of smart power should be defending the national interests, managing threats effectively, on one hand, and establishing, on the other hand a security environment for future challenges. Smart Power is a dynamic form of indirect strategic planning, which utilizes the advantages and the dynamic of the Greek society, maintaining at the same time the readiness to mobilise hard power.
